Euro light pattern differences

I would have a few more pictures of coverage but I forgot to grab extra floppies for the camera :/

For high res versions of the photos go here.

My last car had euro spec H4's with 100/130 watt clear bulbs, each filiment had one 10 gauge wire direct from the alternator to the bulb so with 4 10 gauge wires, 4 25 amp relays and a 165 amp alternator they had lots of clean power to run.

Ever since I had first driven the S4 at night I wasn't totally happy with the headlights, I could tell that the HID system dumped out more light than the H4's did, but it wasn't where I needed to see, I could care less about the front porch of a house 50 feet back from the road. I wanted to see far out in front.

The following pictures would have worked better if I was farther from the garage, and the door was wider, but they'll have to do.

The US spec housings have a nice wide and fairly even light pattern.

The euro housings have more of a hot spot where you need to see and much less side illumination.
The sides of the pattern dim much faster, and the cut off is higher on the right than the US cutoff.

The pattern isn't level because the car isn't level, darn snow :)

I only had time to do the drivers side housing at lunch so I got to drive around with one us housing and one euro, even though the euro was aimed too low it was always over powering the US on the right, quite noticable. Again these need to be farther away but they show the difference.

I put the passengers side one in. Still not aimed though.

Low Beam.

Just high beam.

Both.

Doesn't show anything, but looks neat.

Once I aimed them, wow, I'm finally happy with the lighting, they are actually better than the H4's I had in my last car, even on high beams, now I just need to find a high quality H7 bulb for the high beams, the H4 100/130 wagners I bought fron napa were excellent, actually produced much more light than the stock H4's, they've lasted 1 year now, haven't burned out or yellowed. Does any know if wagner makes high wattage H7's?

For those concerned about visibility of the turn signals, they aren't bad, not as good as before but still more than adequate, these pictures are of just the parking light, it's even brighter when the blinker is on.
